Western Maine Yurts is a small, locally owned and operated business. Our owner, Alex Poland, can be found on site doing anything from property maintenance to cleaning. He dreamed up the vision for Western Maine Yurts and personally designed and built the property from the ground up; from excavation and site work to raising the yurts and furnishing the interiors. When he isn’t working he enjoys spending time with his wife, teen daughter and son, and two gigantic Great Danes. He’s a hobby farmer, and has a passion for fishing and exploring the rivers of Western Maine. His love for Maine rivers inspired the yurt names. After all of that you wouldn’t think there was anymore free time to fill, but he also enjoys creating art inspired by his fishing adventures.

Tricia Young grew up with Alex and is a life long family friend. She manages our website and online presence and is usually the one connecting with you during your booking process. She also takes care of the finances and other administrative tasks. She and her Bethel-born husband have three young children and a little French bulldog that all regularly tag along to “help” take care of the yurts. She’s an animal lover with a couple spoiled cats and a small flock of pet chickens. She also loves gardening. As a family they enjoy easy hikes, mountain biking, and relaxing in nature.

Our little team hopes to offer you a great place to unwind and connect with family and friends, or crash after a busy day of exploring the great outdoors. Please let us know if you need anything during your stay. We hope you have a fantastic time!
