What is Western Maine Yurts?

Western Maine Yurts is a unique lodging experience connecting the best aspects Maine has to offer.  Our solar powered yurts offer cozy comforts with a rustic style.  They allow guests to hear the birds and rain, and stay warm and toasty in the winter months.  Four-season comfort is made possible with arctic insulation and a propane stove for the cold nights. A heated farmhouse style bathhouse offers another level of comfort for hot showers and other hygiene needs.  Outdoor seating, Solo Stoves, and walking trails offer guests a connection with the outdoors.  Owned and operated by local Oxford County residents, more information about the team behind Western Maine Yurts can be found at the About Us tab.

The Chandler Brook Village and Chandler Heights Village

At Western Maine Yurts we have two villages of 8 private 24ft yurts with a beautiful bathhouse. Each village is set amongst 128 acres of forest and wetland in Bethel, Maine. Chandler Brook Village is our original group of 8 yurts.  These yurts are accessed by 4 private driveways from the Chandler Hill Road and tucked into the surrounding forest. There are walking paths to and from the central bathhouse, and outhouses at each driveway not shared with the bathhouse for additional convenience. Chandler Heights Village is set up into the forest within our Loop Trail. These 8 yurts are located around a one way driveway loop with the bathhouse at the center. Chandler Heights Village offers a particularly ideal setting for groups of family, friends, or company retreats. Both villages of yurts have access to our growing network of recreational trails around the acreage.

Our property is 7 minutes from Mt. Abram ski area and mountain biking and 15 minutes from Sunday River ski area.  Downtown Bethel is only 2 miles away and offers a variety of options for dining, shops, and small town entertainment.  Locally, guests have access to the Androscoggin river for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding.  There is an expansive amount of trails for hiking, backpacking, and snowshoeing that can be found at Mahoosuc Land Trust, Bethel Community Forest, Grafton Notch State Park, Evans Notch, and other White Mountain National Forest parcels.  If you have a love for the Western Foothills of Maine and enjoy four season recreation this is the place for you!
